Aarp, the Colorado-based insurance company, announced Friday it will launch an insurance marketplace that offers health plans across Colorado.
The company said it will be a marketplace for individuals and families, and it will include coverage for the medical devices that make up a lot of insurance coverage, including devices that prevent people from smoking and that are used to treat diseases.
The insurer also said it is expanding coverage for a range of other devices, including the personal mobile phone, medical device, and smartwatch.
The new marketplace will include both insurance plans that cover the costs of health care and also cover other things like home repairs, emergency room services, and other necessities.
It will be open to consumers between the ages of 18 and 50.
It is expected to launch sometime in 2018.
The Colorado insurance exchange is one of the most widely used in the country, with insurers covering more than 12 million people.
AARP has been pushing to have the Colorado marketplace expanded, saying the insurance marketplace has helped reduce premiums for the state’s uninsured.AARP has also been trying to convince the state to expand its Medicaid program to cover people with pre-existing conditions, which would increase its enrollment.
